When I 1st read the reviews on this product, I noticed some people said their butts hurt from sitting on it. The 1st night I got the backjoy, the same thing happened to me.

I thought, “What am I missing?”

So I went back to the box, and low and behold found a little quickstart guide titled, “Read this first!”

I read it, then tried the backjoy again. After some minutes, I found the comfort spot where I was perfectly supported.

After sitting in it for a while, my back felt a little achy. I wondered if possibly I was again using it wrong, so the information said:

“Try sitting without the Backjoy and notice any differences.”

So I did that, and now I realized that sitting usually hurt my tailbone and butt more!

It turns out that it really takes many time for the back to change to sitting properly imagine that!

Long story short: it is now about 30 days after I bought this, and I am still to get used to it but I certainly feel the difference and will continue to use it.

If you are having trouble with it, read the information and attempt it for some weeks. When you find the ’sweet spot’ you will notice the difference instantly.

I have been using BackJoy for over a year. Having had a desk job for my complete career, BackJoy has made the hours in front of my computer so more bearable. Before, I suffered from awful posture and tight shoulders I do not feel these common aches and ache anymore.

However, I decided to write a review after I tweaked my back and experienced the break that BackJoy was able to offer. I knew that the “cushion” helped me sit taller and more comfortably, but I did not know how profound this effect could be till after my injury. The only way I could bear to sit was with a BackJoy.

Whether you are experiencing acute ache or simply want to alleviate the stress of long term sitting, I could recommend this product. Please make sure to read the information carefully. I think abuse was the main reason why others have not been pleased. It is really vital to scoot yourself back on the cushion as far as you may be able to so the curved back really scoops your rear. You will feel when you are in the sweet spot.

Since I had read all of the reviews before buying the BackJoy Back Orthotic Sitting Device, I was hopeful that I could also find this to be equally useful and supportive, and I can say that I was surprised to find it to be that and more. I do not have serious back problems but rather a weak core and as I have a long torso, my upper back muscles are much stronger than my lower back, so I have a tendency to slouch when sitting no matter how much I attempt to correct myself. When I tried the Backjoy I was ecstatic at how it pushed my complete back into a straight position with no strain at all after sitting for hours. I am amazed at how well it’s helping me to correct my posture and I do not end up having the neck and shoulder aches that I typically get from slouching.

So far I have used the Backjoy for driving in my car, sitting in an office bench and also sitting in a cross legged position on the floor throughout meditation and I am so thrilled that I can really sit up straight the complete time. It is such a great design and built tough and comfy to sit on for long periods of time. I’m 5′8″ and weigh 150 lbs and the seat is adaptable, strong and large enough to hold a much bigger person. To get the seat in the best position for the most comfort, I have found that scooting your fanny as far back as you may be able to go is the most comfy and best position for support. I really love it and greatly recommend it for any kind of sitting you’ll be doing or in any kind of chair or on the floor which I had not seen any literature for using it in that way, but since it’s vital to have a straight spine throughout meditation, this was an amazing find and seeing that so most of a person’s life is sitting either at home or at work, it is vital to keep the spine straight and in a good posture. Of course enough can not be said about strengthening the back and core muscles to help with a poor posture or back problems through exercise, but this product was useful for behind the weaker back muscles and helping with correcting my posture.

After weighing all the alternatives, I decided to attempt the Futuro night splint for my plantar fasciitis. The Futuro has a strip of plastic in front and the rest is soft fabric with velcro fasteners. By the way, the information on the box says: “. . . The adjustable fasteners create a customized fit for most body types. Measure the circumference roughly 2″ above the ankle bone.” “Adjust to fit 8 15 inches.” if the measurement of your leg above your ankle bone is less than eight inches or more than 15 inches, this splint will either be too big or too small for you. My leg measures twelve inches and I wear a size eleven women’s shoe. The splint is comfy to wear and helped to alleviate the awful heel ache I had every morning when I got out of bed.

A “Doable” choice For Night Splints,

As the name implies, they are splints you wear at night. Most of them appear like big boots, which is why I like the Futuro Plantar Fasciitis Sleep Support brand it is just less bulky to wear at night than most.

Now the idea behind these splints is to attempt and keep the foot and ankle structures stretched out all night to advertise curative and avoid morning ache and hardness that’s so common in plantar fasciitis. Only some randomized controlled trials have really tested out this interesting idea. For instance:

Volunteers in one study were randomized to get either custom foot inserts, front night splints, or custom foot inserts and front night splints Roos 2006. At twelve weeks, all groups improved considerably with no important differences found in ache among the three groups at any point in time.

In another study, patients wore either custom shoe inserts, over the counter arch supports, or night splints Martin 2001. At twelve week follow up, all groups improved with no important differences between them.

Night splints were in comparison to no night splint use in this randomized controlled trial Powell 1998. After one month, the group that wore the night splints showed greater improvement in comparison to the control group.

As you may be able to see, these night splints ARE efficient in treating plantar fasciitis but note that they seem to be just as efficient as over the counter or custom foot inserts too. So, since night splints may be a ache to sleep with for many of people, I recommend you attempt them as a last resort after you have tried more conservative things like foot inserts. If you are reading this, you either think you have or have been identified with plantar fasciitis. One day in early July out of the blue my left heel started to hurt. I have never had foot problems so I did not think much about it. Two days afterward I could barely walk. Every step was sheer agony. After many checking on the internet I quickly realized I had the classic signs of plantar fasciitis, i.E., the ache could decrease somewhat after walking for awhile I learned that was because the ligament beed stretched, the ache was generally so much worse after driving, and in the morning the 1st step upon to get out of bed was totally excruciating. I followed doctor’s orders. I iced it, did all the stretching exercises and rolled my foot around on a frozen soup can. Nothing seemed to help. The doctor never once mentioned using a night splint. I ordered this splint after reading about it in a plantar fasciitis on line chat room. It totally lived up to its promise. It arrived much sooner than anticipated and after using it for three or four nights I could walk again without having to hold onto the furniture and wanting to scream out in agony. After using it for about ten nights I was totally ache free and have been since. It simply keeps your foot in the correct position while you sleep so the ligament can heal. It is not uneasy at all and never interfered with my to get a good night’s sleep. If you have been identified with plantar fasciitis, take my advice. Don’t hesitate. Don’t hobble around in agony for weeks like I did. Order this now. I wish I had recognized about it sooner.
